My dad always taught me to measure twice, cut once.
It's not just a good rule for construction. It's a good rule for life, as well. Whatever choices you're faced with, think it through, then re-think it through. Whether it's making a major purchase, committing to volunteer as a sports coach, or walking down the aisle-- make sure that the long-lasting decision you make is really the right one.
It's little things like this that I contemplate while I stock shelves and wait on customers, as well as tidbits of wisdom from the old-timers who frequent our store, that I shall attempt to share here.

You're right, "measure twice, cut once" really is a great rule for life! I am pretty jealous -- I absolutely love hardware stores (no kidding) and I live in an ancient house that constantly needs work, so I spend a lot of time in them, too, so good thing! Glad I found your blog via Nina Badzin, nice to meet you!
